Presenting…Walk a Mile in Their His HER Our Shoes 2021!

We’re back with our signature event – Walk a Mile in Their His Her Our Shoes – after the hiatus we had to take in 2020 to ensure the health and safety of the community. This year, given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event will have a twist: we will be virtual!

As we adapt to the realities of COVID-19, the logistics of the Walk are changing. However, the call to action to end gender-based violence remains the same as it was in 2010. For its first nine years, the Walk was held in downtown Greensburg. In 2021, a virtual event means that we’re expanding the Walk to all of Westmoreland County…so you can take a stand while staying close to home.

You’ve come to us for 9 years … now we’re coming to you!

We’ve developed a format that incorporates a mile walk in any setting in the county and online activities to inform and inspire the community to act. After registering, watch your email for information about these activities as well as some suggested locations for your walk.

Since March 2020, we’ve learned a lot about the importance of community and caring for our neighbors. As part of our activities, we’ll be exploring the impact of empathy on ending gender-based violence, and its power in making our world a better place for future generations.

Join us … we can explore together.

  • #WalkBlackburn will take place April 7 - 10, at a location of your choosing.

  • Registration is free, with a suggested donation of $5.00 or more.
